PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL FIXTURES AND COMPETITIONS FOR SEASON 2020/21 ARE CANCELLED DUE TO THE COVID-19 SITUATION

Advice issued by Badminton Scotland is being updated and will be published here once approved by Sportscotland. It is Monday 26th April 2021 before any badminton starts again. Unfortunately this will be only singles for those over 17 unless you meet the household rules (17 and under can play doubles).

Also, there will be a shortage of venues to play when it does start up again and depending on which tier the court location you are going to use is placed within by the Scottish Government, it may only be that singles play is allowed until the tier level appropriate to your court is reduced to allow doubles play. Check the chart published by Badminton Scotland.

Preparing for Clubs Starting Playing in Halls.

However, Clubs should bear in mind that their hall owner may require a Risk Assessment to be prepared for the Club and be submitted so they can demonstrate that they can safely use the hall for Badminton. Sample Risk Assessments for Clubs will be available if required.

Please note that Sportscotland have some General Examples available on their web site at the following link:- https://sportscotland.org.uk/covid-19/getting-coaches-ready-for-sport/. Also Badminton Scotland have prepared a sample Risk Assessment which can be downloaded here.

Clubs will also have to appoint someone to act as a “Covid Officer”, who will carry out Risk Assessments and organise/maintain Attendance Records for the Club. Good hygiene practice will also be required. Click on “Covid Officer” to see their Role.

Please keep safe.
