The final was won by Govan Old 1st, who beat Cadder in a very close match, Govan winning 5-4 in rubbers, and 12-9 in games. The Final was played at Scotstoun Sports Centre, but the floor was very slippy, and the location very noisy, and the players had to keep their shoes slightly wet to stop slipping. It finished just in time for 10pm.
Langside B C were supposed to be playing County B C in the Final, on Friday 20th March at Scotstoun Badminton Academy, but County B C conceded the match this morning, so Langside B C are once again the winners of the Swan Trophy. Well done to Langside B C.
Please note that Cairns 2nd have withdrawn from the 2nd Division of the Doubles League. All their fixtures are thus cancelled.
Well done to Govan Old 1st Doubles on winning the Jubilee Cup by beating Springfield Cambridge 7 – 2 in the Final last night (Friday 28th March) at the Sir Craig Reedie Centre. There were several close games, although Springfield Cambridge had only 2 couples, instead of the opposition’s 3.
There was also a collection for charity amounting to £5, although Govan Old 1st may make a donation later.
