Ladies Badminton Drop In

Some of you may have already seen the event on our Facebook page titled ‘Women’s Badminton Drop In Session’.

As I’m sure you’re aware, we (and so many leagues across the UK!) seem to have a lack of female players, and therefore had to previously stop the ladies divisions and instead create the level doubles divisions. We’re really keen to restart the ladies division in some form (we’re currently doing some research into what the best format may be and would welcome any insights!), and to increase women’s participation in badminton generally.

So we’re holding a drop in session for any ladies in Glasgow interested in badminton! The idea is to meet other ladies interested in the sport, play some games, and to get some information about clubs, events and opportunities! The session will be 2 hours in the afternoon of Sunday 23rd June, time TBC a week before the event when courts are booked, and we’ll ask for a small contribution of £2 towards court, shuttle and admin costs.

This is also to give you all an opportunity to advertise your clubs, and to scout new players! I know not all clubs will be accepting new female players, so if you are and would like your club to be included on the information handouts given to the participants please let me know!

Please do share this information with your clubs, and encourage any of your female members to attend so we can all get to know each other and encourage new members. And if you plan to attend to scout players for your club please let me know.

The event has only been live for 2 days and we already have 60 people interested so it looks like there should be a good turnout! And lots of opportunities to recruit new players!

You can stay up to date with any info about the event, and let me know if you are coming (and encourage your members to do the same!) so we know how many courts to book on the event page (https://www.facebook.com/share/m3R1rJWkVswHvgwg/?mibextid=9l3rBW

Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns.

Hope to hear back from you about attendance and including your club on any promotional/ information material!

Many thanks
